The training suburito aims to simulate the weight of a real Japanese sword. Primarily intended for solo training or cutting drills, it commands respect, as it hits with terrible force.
The suburito is part of the training equipment of ancient samurai. It allowed you to work the muscles in depth because they were thicker and heavier than the classic Bokken.
Cold Steel was inspired by a wooden suburito from the private collection of Andrew Demko, 5th Dan of Aikido, with whom Cold Steel President Lynn C. Thompson trained for several months and decided to create one for Cold Steel.
Injection molded from high-strength virgin polypropylene, with a long handle and square tip, Cold Steel's Suburito is extremely resistant to breakage and will never shrink, rot, crack or split as a wooden suburito tends to do.
It is built to provide many years of hard service and, if used faithfully, will make you a better sword or sword fighter.
It features an elegant wood grain finish and bears the five major precepts of Japanese sword cutting, written in Kanji characters (circular movement, cutting angle, cutting path, distance and wring of the tea bag -- don't laugh (not it's a real movement intended to strengthen the wrists).
