A little history
The blowgun has a long history that spans the entire planet. Many authorities believe that it was invented in Malaysia and migrated through the Malaysian and Indonesian archipelagos to the Philippines and even Japan. However, the blowgun was not just a Southeast Asian weapon; it also appeared in the Western Hemisphere, in the jungles of South and Central America, as far as the southeastern United States. Blowguns were originally invented as a hunting weapon. They were used to capture small animals and birds, with small stones or hardened clay pellets as ammunition.
The Big Bore blowgun
The Cold Steel Big Bore Blowgun features a large caliber barrel (625 Magnum) which allows them to fire darts faster and heavier than other models on the market today! They have an effective range of around 18m and with practice, an experienced user can reach a 1.5cm diameter circle at astonishing distances and throw a heavy dart capable of penetrating a 2cm sheet of plywood.
