A wonderful decorative sword, simple and elegant katana, whose fuchi (claw), kashira (cap), tsuba (guard plate), tsuka-ito (hilt strip) and saya (sheath) are kept in a Matte Black. In contrast, the golden habaki (blade clamp) underlines the high-quality impression of this samurai sword.
Historically, the katana was one of the traditionally made Japanese swords used by the samurai of feudal Japan. The word "katana" was first used as a name for a long sword as early as the Kamakura period (1185-1333).
The katana was often paired with a similar smaller sword, such as the wakizashi, or could also be worn with the tanto, a smaller dagger of a similar shape. The combination of a katana with a smaller sword is known as a daisho. Only samurai could wear the daisho: it represented the social power and personal honor of the samurai.
The katana is characterized by its unique appearance: a curved, thin, single-edged blade, with a circular guard and a long handle for two hands. It has been historically associated with the samurai of feudal Japan.
