Laido is a modern Japanese martial art, in which drawing movements and attacking techniques are practiced in precisely defined forms (Kata), usually using an Iaito, a practical blunt sword. The main emphasis of laido is on the oneness of body, mind and sword (Ki-Ken-Tai-Ichi). Ultimate mastery was achieved by controlling all combat situations without even drawing the sword. The name Kei-Ben describes the simple and practical form of the sword.
Masterpiece of Asian blacksmithing craftsmanship:
- The blade is hand forged from stainless steel and hardened.
- The dull blade includes a fuller (Bo-Hi).
- The handle (Tsuka) is made of wood and covered with original ray skin (Same).
- Traditional handle wrapping (Tsuka-Ito) in cotton.
- Cast zinc-aluminum tsuba with a flower motif.
- Two pins (Mekugi) attached to the handle.
- Wooden scabbard (Saya)
- Brass blade collar (Habaki)
- Made according to historical examples.
