The Damascus Viking sword is hand forged from Cold Steel® of the finest Damascus steel and comes fully sharpened. The sword is impressive by the splendor of its decoration. Featuring a magnificent rosewood handle . The guard and pommel are designed in the typical Viking style and have been polished to a high degree of shine. As with Viking Age models, they are made of alternating layers of brass and steel.

The sword comes in an impressive wood and leather scabbard with a belt loop. The mouthpiece and cap are made of brass and decorated with beautiful embossing.

Damascus steel

The term Damascus steel refers to a composite steel made from two or more different types of steel. The name is derived from the Syrian city Damascus, which is considered the ancient stronghold and origin of Damascus steel production.

Typically, a hard, high-carbon steel and a soft, low-carbon steel are joined together by fire welding and repeated bending. Carbon-rich steel ensures greater hardness, better hardenability and longer sharpness retention, while softer steel gives the blade greater elasticity and greater resistance to breakage.

Thanks to this technology, which appeared at a time when steel qualities were poor and changeable, you can combine the positive properties of different steels. Thanks to the different colors with varying carbon content, impressive patterns are created by alternating layers. It is in particular because of these motifs that a mysterious magic was attributed to the Damascus blades of the Middle Ages.
