Long the traditional weapon of China's peasant armies, the Dadao, or great sword, was used to deadly effect until the 1930s during the Sino-Japanese War.
Its one- or two-handed versatility, combined with the enormous cutting power of its forward-facing blade, made it the ideal sword for close-quarters combat.
Although the original sword does not have a scabbard, Hanwei provides a sheath to protect it and easily carry it.
