The German Grosse Messer sword (large knife) is one of the largest blades that falls under the Messer classification.
It can be wielded with one or two hands and is capable of astonishing cutting feats.
Cold Steel offers a modern version of this historic classic with a hand-forged 1060 carbon steel blade.
So sharp that we used it to cut a phone book in half with just one swipe!
The guard and pommel are in blued steel and the quillon protects the rosewood handle firmly riveted to the full tang blade.
The Grosse Messer also comes with a nice wood and leather scabbard, reinforced with a steel coping and a blued throat to accompany the guard and pommel.
