Brass fittings with a delicate swallow pattern harmonize perfectly with the rosewood pattern of the handle and scabbard.
Designed by renowned martial arts artist and teacher Scott M. Rodell, our Chinese Cutting Sword is a weapon specifically designed for the art of cutting in Chinese swordsmanship. Using a special steel formulation and heat treatment regime developed by Hanwei, the blade optimizes edge hardness and body strength, ideal characteristics for a cutting sword. The elegant simplicity of the steel frame reinforces the mission of the sword, providing clean lines while remaining true to tradition. The black leather handle on cranberry skin ensures safe handling. A rosewood scabbard, whose frame matches that of the handle, completes this attractive set.
Scott M. Rodell's martial arts career includes over 25 years of training in Yang-style Taijiquan. He has trained under several renowned Chinese masters, both in the United States and China. He is the founding director of the Great River Taoist Center, which is headquartered in Washington DC and has branches in the United States, Russia, Estonia, the Netherlands, Germany and Australia. Rodell is the author of “Chinese Swordsmanship, the Yang Family Taiji Jian Tradition” and “A Practical Guide to Test Cutting for Historical Swordsmanship,” both highly recommended.
