San Mai Japanese blades have been an integral part of the Cold Steel range for decades. They are in high demand among martial artists and knife collectors.
However, these high-end fixed knives are only produced in a limited edition each year.
That's why Cold Steel created the "Nightfall" series. The knives in this collection are designed to the same quality standards and with the same attention to detail as Cold Steel's Japanese classics.
The only difference is that they are forged from CPM 3V steel instead of San Mai steel.
This steel is surprisingly strong and extremely resistant to wear. With its very uniform microstructure, it offers premium impact resistance and great edge retention.
It is a remarkable steel for large blades, which require increased strength.
The handle is made from Kray-Ex and each knife comes with a Secure-Ex sheath.
This model with its lightly polished finish replaces the previous model, the 13Q, which is no longer in production.
Like its snake namesake, the Tai Pan is incredibly fast and efficient. Designed by Lynn C. Thompson with a "Tanto" blade profile. The Tai Pan has all the characteristics of a classic dagger while reducing its flaws.
Most daggers are known for having thin, fragile tips that break easily. In contrast, the Tai Pan features a strong tip that is wide and thick enough to resist blade breakage. All this, without compromising its cutting efficiency.
