The 0770CF is based on ZT's original and award-winning Zero Tolerance 0777 and continues to be one of our most popular knives.

The 0770CF offers the style and performance of the 0777, but in a simplified version. The blade is made from CPM S35VN stainless steel for toughness and resistance to edge chipping.

The sweeping lines of the 0777 are preserved in the lightweight carbon fiber handle that fits securely in the hand.

The blade of this knife is made of CPM S35VN stainless steel. This steel was designed by Crucible Industries in collaboration with Chris Reeve. They produced this steel as a follow-up to one of their most popular steels: S30V steel. It seemed like everyone loved S30V steel because of its perfect balance of hardness, toughness, and sharpness retention. However, the original steel proved complicated to sharpen. To eliminate this problem, they started with a thinner steel structure. They then added niobium, which is where the N in the name comes from. Thanks to these two changes, the steel has been able to maintain its perfect balance, its fantastic corrosion resistance, but is now easier to work with. When it comes to elite knives, the S30VN is generally preferred over the S30V. But for everyday tasks, the differences are minimal. Crucible describes the CPM process as follows: “The CPM process produces a highly consistent, high-quality steel characterized by superior dimensional stability, sharpenability, and toughness compared to steels produced by conventional smelting practices.”

The blade of this knife has been finished with a stonewashed finish. This finish is achieved when the manufacturer runs the steel from blade to drum with ceramic pebbles, to create a rough texture. After being tumbled, the steel is removed, smoothed and polished. This keeps the blade looking sturdy and worn, but also makes it smoother and reduces friction. The stonewashed finish helps prolong the original appearance of the blade over time, as it hides scratches and stains that accumulate with time and use.

The blade of this knife is all deep curves and not angles. The backbone of the knife first curves slowly downward from the handle, then, about 2/3 of the way through the blade, it begins to curve much more steeply until it reaches the tip. The body of this knife is wide enough to make slicing child's play for you. The tip of this knife is lowered, which will allow you to perform fine detail work. It's also wide enough that you don't have to worry about the knife breaking when you're doing tougher tasks. That being said, because it is a wider shape, you won't be able to pierce or slice as easily as other blade shapes. This blade shape is a modified drop point, giving you the same loved features of the drop point, but having the aesthetic of big curves.

The handle :

The handle of this knife is made of black carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is strong and lightweight, which is one of the ideal combinations for a knife handle. However, it is also an expensive material because it requires manual labor and a lot of time to get the weave pattern in each of the sleeves. Although this material is strong, it is not unbreakable. All carbon fibers are arranged in one direction. This means that in this specific direction the handle will be incredibly strong. But this also means that when the handle is stressed in other directions, the material will break or chip. The knife is therefore fragile, which means that if it suffers a hard or sharp impact, it will tend to break.

This material is often used for aesthetic purposes because the manufacturer can weave the fibers in different ways, allowing light to reflect off the knife in different ways. On the ZT 0770, the carbon fiber has been carefully woven into a basket shape. This weave will also give the knife the texture you expect from such a high quality knife.

The backbone of the handle begins to curve inward, which will give you a more comfortable grip. Once the curve reaches about halfway up the handle, it slopes downward to the end of the handle. The ventral part of the handle has a small finger guard. The finger guard is followed by a finger groove which has been fitted with a gauge inside to give you even better control of this knife. Then the handle tilts towards the tip.

The pocket clip:

The pocket clip on this knife is a reversible deep carry clip. It is reversible for left or right hand carry, which is one of the reasons why this knife is fully ambidextrous. That being said, it can only be worn with the tip up. This is the most dangerous way to carry your knife, but with a high-quality brand like ZT, you won't have to worry about it opening in your pocket.

This is a deep carry pocket clip, meaning the knife fits lower in your pocket. This does two things: the first is that it will conceal the knife much better than a shallow clip. The second thing it does is it's going to make your knife much safer inside your pocket. You won't have to worry about it slipping when you do your daily tasks.

The mechanism :

This is an assisted opening knife. It is a type of folding knife that has an internal mechanism closer to a switchblade than a manual knife. That said, it doesn't open automatically - you have to open the blade slightly before the mechanism kicks in and opens the blade all the way. Since this is not a fully automatic knife, it should not fall under strict switchblade knife laws. However, many states have very specific regulations regarding carrying knives. It is your responsibility as the user to be aware of local regulations before purchasing or carrying this knife.
