The new T4000 C from Extrema Ratio is an outdoor fixed knife aimed at those who like Japanese blade shapes but don't want to give up tactical use.
A true work of art
From the first sight of the imposing blade, we are drawn to admire the knife. The beautifully executed fuller on each side of the blade highlights the lines. Extrema Ratio's distinctive handle design provides a groove for the index finger to ensure a solid grip. A single bolt holds the rubber handle in place on the full tang, which extends through a lanyard hole.
Extrema Ratio excels at making Tantos, and this one is one of their best. The reduced blade thickness and flat sharpening give it plenty of cutting power, but the blade still starts at 4.1mm at the back, making it strong enough for heavy use.
The non-slip Forprene handle always provides a secure grip, even when it's wet or cold. It can be easily disassembled to ensure optimal cleaning of the knife.
Even though it is "compact", the sheath manages to integrate many features and details. It is solidly constructed and designed to fit the knife perfectly. On the back, there is a set of PALS/MOLLE straps, and on the front, straps to attach a small pouch or other item. A gap in the welt at the base of the scabbard allows for free flow. To comfortably accommodate the thick blade, the scabbard is similarly sized.
