In 2021, a call for tenders was launched by the French Army with the aim of equipping all Army Light Aviation ( ALAT ) personnel. Thanks to the versatility of its characteristics, the Tork survival knife from Wildsteer was selected to be integrated into the equipment of this unit.

Its name comes from the word "torque" which in English designates the torque of main rotor of a helicopter.

It is equipped with two guards ensuring total protection for your hand.

There is a notch on the back of the blade, allowing it to use the flint that comes with the knife.
However, the rest of the back of the blade is flat, in order to provide a optimum stirring. This is a technique allowing you to split wood using another support; you will just have to tap it on the back of the blade so that the knife sinks.

There is a notched area on part of the blade, the first notch is more imposing than the others and is used to cut off the headset connectors. The rest of the notched area makes it easier to cut straps or ropes.

The Tork has a window breaker at the end of the handle, at the bottom of the pommel and allows you to break a plexiglass canopy in order to evacuate the helicopter in the event of a crash.

There is also a hole at the back serving as a strap loop .

The case also meets strict standards. It is composed of a main body, a flint, a diamond plate and 2 calf straps.

- THE Calf straps are extendable and the widest has a grip allowing it to be attached to a MOLLE system. They are equipped with an excess strap management system to prevent snagging and for very stealthy installation. These straps have been designed and designed so that they do not bother the user and remain comfortable in all conditions and even when the operator has to cover many kilometers running.

- A Swedish fire stone (Light My fire) is also found on the back of the sheath and is used with the notch on the back of the blade. 55 mm of fire starter paracord are available at the bottom of the case (the central component of this special paracord is made of hemp and also contains nylon fishing line).
