Extrema Ratio has developed the first knife in a new product line called CONTACT.
Its blade has a lance-shaped profile, flat sharpening and diamond-shaped geometry. Equipped with a lower guard to protect the hand from accidental cuts, an upper frill to improve grip, a concave "fuller" relief along the entire length of the blade and a blade with a thickness generous (6.30 mm). All these details make the Contact the big brother of the now famous Requiem, whose proportions and certain technical characteristics have been revised. The first in a new line of utility knives.
The blade is made of Böhler N690 steel with a hardness of 58 HRC with a stone washed finish. The handle is still made of forprene. It is no longer mounted using screws on the side, but thanks to the frustoconical stainless steel axle which is screwed to the ground and fits into a special seat which makes it solid. This way the knife is well balanced. The sheath is minimalist; it has a retention system that recalls the style of the model from which it is inspired.
The handle is injection molded from shock-resistant nylon. The secondary restraint system is reversible for ambidextrous users. The blade is guided into the sheath thanks to its conical shape, which is well suited for rapid insertion and removal of the blade. To remove the blade, simply press the pressure lever, which releases the safety device that holds the blade securely in the sheath. A system is installed in the horizontal slots of the scabbard that secures the blade in place to prevent any shaking noise when stored inside. The rear of the nylon sheath is MOLLE compatible.
The textile part is kept to a minimum and features the classic two-button safety lace with a belt loop and a thigh strap with rubber reinforcement for anti-rotation.
For this new line, Extrema Ratio aims to minimize the thickness and bulk of the knife as much as possible, but without skimping on structural strength and safety accessories.
