San Mai® Japanese blades have been an integral part of the Cold Steel® range for decades. They are in high demand among both martial artists and knife collectors, and the demand is high. However, these luxury class fixed knives are only produced in a strictly limited edition each year.
That's why Cold Steel® created the Nightfall-Series. The knives in this collection are manufactured to the same quality standards and attention to detail as Cold Steel® Japanese classics, except they are forged from premium American CPM powder steel. 3V instead of San Mai® steel.
These strong, reliable blades have been honed to an incredible edge. The handles are made from Kray-Ex™ and each knife comes with a Secure-Ex® sheath.
CPM 3V steel
This modern tool steel may be a little more expensive, but it is surprisingly sturdy and extremely wear-resistant. This is a fine grain powder steel. Thanks to its very uniform microstructure, it offers first-rate impact resistance and high edge retention, even with very fine cutting edges. It is a perfect steel for large blades that require extreme strength.
