This fully functional M48 crossbow from United Cutlery fires a steel-tipped bolt at over 160 FPS (feet per second / approximately 49 m per second) and launches it over 100 yards!

Assembling the crossbow
Assembling this pistol crossbow is not difficult however, a novice crossbow shooter might make mistakes, so we have summarized the instructions for you to follow.
This pistol crossbow comes with two vibration-absorbing pads and a compression plate. The two vibration-damping pads should be placed on either side of the bit, so that one vibration-damping pad is at the front of the bit and the other is at the rear. Once you have slid the prod and vibration dampening pads into position in the riser, insert the compression plate towards the front of the crossbow - the retention screw is supposed to thread into the compression plate .
Once the tip and riser have been assembled, it is time to string the crossbow. This operation is more difficult, to be done carefully and safely. You can either use a bowstringer to help you string it, or have an extra person bend the prod enough for the string to pass over the end of the second limb.
In total, assembling this pistol crossbow takes less than 10 minutes.
